Azure Security Engineer Los Alamos National Laboratory Los Alamos, New Mexico Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. We are seeking an experienced Azure Security Engineer to join our Innovative Customer Experience (ICE) Division. You will use your knowledge of Azure security services and best practices to defend against cyber threats and maintain compliance with regulatory standards. Responsibilities: Create and deploy cloud-native solutions with an emphasis on scalability, cost-effectiveness, and security in Azure Collaborate with IT teams, DevOps, and cloud architects to secure infrastructure, applications, and data on Microsoft Azure Monitor for incident response and threat detection Investigate and address security incidents in Azure environments using built-in tools (like Azure Security Center and Sentinel) Utilize Microsoft Azure services, including VMs, Azure Functions, App Services, Storage, Networking, AKS, etc. Work with network security principles, such as VPNs, firewalls, and load balancers Optimize seamless delivery and operation of IT services by monitoring system performance Apply configuration management practices, creating processes and standards for selection and implementation Ensure all cloud resources, workloads, and processes comply with company policies, security frameworks, and industry regulations Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of relevant experience are required, or equivalent mix of education and experience as it relates to the job, required Familiarity with security in multi-cloud settings (Azure + AWS) Understanding of DevOps and CI/CD security best practices Extensive experience with Azure security tools (e.g., Azure Security Center, Azure Sentinel, Azure Key Vault, Azure Firewall) Experience in identity and access management (IAM) within Azure AD Additional certifications like CISSP and CISM are preferred We Are Delivering Scientific Excellence Los Alamos National Laboratory is more than a place to work.
