Your Purpose As an essential member of the Transportation Team, you will manage our trains from either our Orlando Vehicle Maintenance Facility or Miami Station and between our Orlando, West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Aventura and Miami Central Stations. This includes assisting the Locomotive Engineers in order for the train to operate safely, efficiently, and on schedule. You will become certified to operate our trains in this critical position of Conductor after training and successfully passing a skills performance test. Your Role Secures train movement orders and ensures clear understanding by Brightline teammates. Ensures that all activities of the onboard team are safe and carried out to Brightline's high standards. Responsible for safe handling of proper train door opening/closing procedures. Understands and carries out predetermined service requests; uses technology to track and action requests. Operates switches within yards and possibly on main tracks. Prepares reports regarding problems such as accidents, signaling issues, unscheduled stops, mechanical failures, delays, or guest-impacting issues. Performs assigned end-of-duty reports as required. Assists with light cleaning and makes the train presentable for guests at station turn-around and final terminals. Delivers customer service to Brightline guests by identifying and meeting needs in a professional and helpful manner while on duty. Monitors onboard announcements, welcome guests (including those with special needs, elderly customers, children, and travelers with heavy luggage), and ensures onboard cleanliness meets Brightline standards. Solves guest problems with initiative and discretion to meet expectations; provides assistance during service disruptions. Experience & Qualifications Certified as a train Conductor (CFR Title 49, Part 242) OR three or more years of operational railroad experience. Ability to work weekends and nights and possibly more than 40 hours per week; on-call availability is necessary. Sound judgment and the ability to communicate clearly with guests and crew to ensure safe and efficient train movements and customer service. Ability to think independently and make quick, logical decisions, including in emergencies. Integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to work without direct supervision. Familiarity with operating rules and practices, safety rules, and emergency procedures. Full mobility in a seated position, with physical agility to access train equipment, move between cars, bend, reach, stoop, ride the side of trains safely, and lift equipment. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Excellent leadership and team management skills. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external partners. Experience managing projects in Retail, Food and Beverage, or other ancillary revenue products. Strong quantitative, analytical skills with attention to detail and data-driven decision making. Ability to handle guests, management, teammates, and external contacts under pressure while meeting deadlines. Strong communication, critical thinking, and presentation skills; ability to provide written and verbal direction. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Managerial Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities but may provide training or work direction to other teammates in managing and executing their areas of responsibility. Work Environment Works in a clean, air-conditioned office space; suitable for focused, professional work. Physical Demands Regularly uses hands to handle objects, reach and operate controls.
