Job Description

JBS is seeking a salaried Farm Manager to join our team! Position starts at $54,000+, DOE, per year.

Purpose & Scope:

The Sow Farm Manager is responsible for ensuring the execution of daily responsibilities related to animal welfare, including feed, water, and management. The manager directly oversees farm employees, ensuring effective and efficient work. This role involves coordinating employees into a highly effective team to produce high-quality animals in a productive manner.

• Ensure daily animal care, including water, feed, and management


• Build, lead, and train team members to carry out assigned tasks


• Comply with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)


• Assist in controlling costs related to feed, supplies, and labor


• Set long- and short-term targets for breeding and farrowing success


• Maintain accurate records for integrity and reporting


• Oversee special projects and make operational improvement recommendations


• Conduct safety training and ensure safe work practices


• Perform maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment


• Maintain open communication with team members and upper management


• Follow biosecurity practices to protect animal health


• Ensure animal welfare


• Perform other duties as assigned

Travel:

Local travel within a 30-mile radius.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong communication and listening skills


• B.S. degree in Animal Science or equivalent


• 3-5 years of related swine production experience


• At least 1 year of people management experience


• Ability to solve problems and make decisions independently


• Effective team leadership skills


• Self-motivated, team-oriented, with strong work ethics


• Valid non-expired Drivers License


• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment


• Familiarity with swine diseases and medications (preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.
