Job Description
Marten Law is seeking an experienced and well-rounded legal assistant to work full-time with the attorneys and staff to support our growing environmental, energy, and natural resource law practice.

A successful applicant must reside in or near, or be willing to relocate to Washington, DC. Four in-office days a week are expected (M, T, Th, F) with working from home (WFH) generally allowed on Wednesdays.

Firm Overview

Marten enjoys a national reputation as a leader in environmental, energy, and natural resource law. Our team of lawyers includes recognized authorities in climate change, wind and solar development, air quality, water resources and water quality, endangered species, forestry, public lands, fisheries, environmental cleanup, and environmental and energy project review and permitting. We work throughout the United States on large-scale projects involving complex negotiations, transactions, and litigation. Our lawyers practice out of offices in Seattle, Washington; Portland, Oregon; Boise, Idaho; Washington, D.C.; San Francisco, California and Toronto, Canada.

Legal Assistants are vital to our success and are valued for increasing the firm's productivity and efficiency. • Finalize formal court documents for service and/or filing.
  • Promptly file pleadings, motions, responses, replies and other documents in federal and state courts nationwide in accordance with court-specific rules. • Prepare tables of contents and tables of authorities for pleadings.
  • Effectively organize preparatory materials, both in paper and electronic format, for attorney use in meetings, presentations, hearings, and other settings.
  • Prepare correspondence for both internal and external distribution.
  • Conduct client, attorney and court communications, maintaining professionalism across all forms of communication, whether in-person, by telephone, email, or virtually.
  • Familiarity with document revision management and document comparisons.
  • Manage attorney calendars.
  • Provide office management support, including answering phones and managing office supplies.
  • Work collaboratively with the firm's attorneys, legal assistants, paralegals and staff to support the firm's needs.
