Job Description

The prime function of the Outdoor Power Equipment Mechanic is to carry out preventive maintenance and repairs of rental equipment, equipment for retail sales, and customer owned equipment. The equipment to be serviced may range from small engine-powered equipment to heavy diesel-powered equipment, depending on the needs of the location and the skill level of the employee. This position covers several roles in the service department: two-stroke mechanic, generator mechanic, lawnmower mechanic for both residential and commercial, diesel mechanic, tractor and construction equipment mechanic, rental equipment mechanic, and PDI (pre delivery inspection) mechanic. These roles can be individualized as a specialty or combined. This position can be full time or part time.

Responsibilities:

• Service equipment as required to ensure proper working condition when leaving the shop.
• Perform safety inspections on equipment.
• Conduct preventive maintenance to avoid unnecessary repairs and down time.
• Clean the shop and work area as necessary to maintain a safe work environment.
• Meet all company, governmental, and equipment related safety requirements.
• Complete manufacturer required annual training.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

• 1-2 years experience with similar equipment.
• Some trade school desirable.

Other Requirements:

• Possess good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to trouble shoot equipment problems.
• Safely and effectively use tools and equipment.
• Exhibit personal and professional integrity.
• Have a working knowledge of individual equipment design and safety requirements.
