Employment Opportunity As an Unarmed Security Officer, you will support critical facilities and infrastructure, public venues that require an enhanced presence and asset protection. Answer routine questions for directions and handle minor problems. Monitor the entry and exit of personnel at client facilities. Observe and immediately report suspicious situations to appropriate personnel or emergency services. Immediately notify local law enforcement or emergency personnel by calling 911 for assault, burglary, robbery, vandalism, suspicious activity, or serious medical emergencies. Inspect facilities to ensure doors, windows, roofs, and lights are secure and not defective. Note areas where staff may be working after hours. Report accidents, injuries, electrical outages, broken pipes, or broken windows to the proper department. Protect state property and deter theft by presence while making security checks throughout client facilities. Maintain security logs and write incident reports, notifying appropriate client personnel. Qualifications Mentally alert with good judgment; ability to exercise and follow instructions and complete specialized training. Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing English. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions and produce accurate reports. Ability to monitor environmental and electronic security systems. Requirements Physical examination within six (6) months before assignment. Successful pre‑employment drug screen within six (6) months of assignment; drug screen must detect marijuana, cocaine, heroin, amphetamines, opiates, and benzodiazepines. Completion of training in Security & Emergency Procedures, Crowd Control, Irate/Hostile Individual, and Public Relations. Completion of training on state policy regarding drug awareness, sexual harassment, workplace violence, discrimination, and prohibition of equipment use. Complete training for operating electronic computer and alarm/communication systems. Education & Experience High school diploma or GED equivalent. Licensing, Permits & Certifications Valid California Driver’s License or California Identification Card issued by the DMV. Valid California Driver License required if driving is a requirement. First Aid and CPR training with current certification to be carried while on duty. Guard Registration card. Physical & Mental Requirements Capable of moderate to arduous physical exertion under normal or emergency conditions. Good general health without defects or abnormalities that would interfere with duties. Good vision: 20/30 on Snellen chart, normal fields and depth perception, correctable to Jaeger #4 test; color discrimination present.
