This position is for full time Alternative Transport Drivers. The Drivers will be required to be registered as Unarmed Security Officers with Virginia DCJS. Training will be provided if needed. The Drivers will be stationed at our Wytheville Virginia location. The driver will be dispatched to various locations in the Mt. Rogers catchment area to pick up TDO persons and transport to specific facilities throughout the state of Virginia.
- Valid state motor vehicle operator's License required
- Must have a clean driving record and bring your DMV record to the interview.
- Must pass a background investigation
- Strong conflict management skills to handle challenging situations that may arise during the transport and ability to de-escalate
- Able to pass random drug testing
- Safely transport TDO persons to designated location
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations while operating the vehicle
- Conduct pre and post trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in proper working condition and all equipment is in vehicle
- Load and unload cargo as necessary - must be able to lift 50 Lbs.
- Maintain accurate records of completed transports, including receipts and signatures
- Communicate with dispatch to receive transport instructions and updates
- Follow established routes and schedules to ensure timely transports
- CPR and First Aid certification is desirable or you will be trained
- Must have excellent reading, writing and communication skills
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Transport Driver or in a similar position preferred
- CIT Training preferred, Training will be provided
- Familiarity with security procedures is a plus
- 1 year Unarmed Security and/or Transport experience
